  1. Parents and Students: Welcome to Third Grade. I am so happy to have you. This is my personal blog page for third grade. This will be the place where you will come to post your comments and questions about our classroom, receive homework assignments, class newsletters and links to websites that will help you with homework.

  2. Dear Parents,
Asalamu Alaikum. My name is sister Maha and I would like to welcome your child to the third grade. This is my 10th year of teaching and I am currently working on my Bachelor in Elementary education from Wayne State University and Henry Ford Community College. I believe that my years of experience with Dearborn Public Schools and many hours of professional development makes me highly qualified in the field of education.
I am looking forward to getting to know both you and your children this year. Grade three students will achieve much this year in terms of academic growth, greater self confidence, and improved social skills. Third grade is the transitional year between early elementary and upper elementary, therefore I plan to focus on creating independent, confident students who will be able to problem solve, research, and work cooperatively with one another.
The purpose of homework is to teach responsibility and reinforce the academic skills that are taught in the classroom. Therefore I do not believe in giving more than one hour of homework every night. Please let me know if you find that your child is regularly having more than one hour or if the work is frustrating for them. If your child arrived in class without their homework complete I will send home a homework alert for you to sign that evening. Each day, the homework will be written on the board, and at least ten minutes will be given for students to write them down in their assignment book. If an unusual circumstance prevents your child from doing his homework (sickness, injury, and family emergency) please send me a note or an email that morning, so that he can be excused from doing his homework.
Enclosed in your folder is a parent’s guide to Grade Level Content Expectations for the state of Michigan. This booklet explains the state of Michigan standards and benchmarks that must be met be the end of third grade.
Finally, the education and wellbeing of your child is my first and foremost priority. I strongly believe in maintaining an open line of communication with parents at all times. Please feel free to contact me with you suggestions, questions or concerns anytime. However, I will not meet with parents during instructional time or before school because your children need all of my attention. I can be reached at maha.mustafa1971@yahoo.com or 313-740-0546. Emails and phone calls will be returned the very same day.
